Why in the world would anyone in their right mind leave the comfort of a fully stocked and spacious metalworking studio, jam 70 odd pounds of iron into a crate, and head off to some distant faraway land with only the most basic of plans as to what will happen once they get there?

a warm and comfy studio

Thanks to the amazing artist exchange program between the Greater Columbus Arts Council in Columbus, Ohio and the Saxon State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts in Dresden, Germany I will soon find out!  And you can too!!  Follow my exploits as I set up a studio, make stuff, and explore all things metalworking in Saxony.  All while trying to negotiate the strange habits, languages, and tools (as well as the dreaded metric system) of the local inhabitants.  Learn how to raise a vessel from a flat sheet of metal, the pain-stacking process of cold forging spoons and forks, and explore the historical and contemporary metalworking traditions and artists of Dresden.
